Duplex ultrasound is an evaluative test, which uses sound waves to create pictures of the anatomy and the flow of blood through the veins. Additionally, it can make graphs that indicate both the direction and speed of the blood flowing through the vessels. The images and graphs it provides can then be viewed on a computer screen.
A duplex ultrasound doesn’t require the use of dyes or radiation, and is even safe during pregnancy.
