Venous insufficiency is one of the most common conditions that can affect the health of both men and women of all ages. Veins have valves which open and close to help return blood to the heart, but if these valves become damaged the blood can’t be properly returned. Therefore, blood can pool in the legs and weaken the vein walls due to the pressure. As time goes by, the increased pressure can cause more valves to fail.
Some people may have visible signs of vein disease, such as varicose or spider veins, whereas others may have no outward indication. Spider veins are a symptom of early stage vein disease. Vein disease is a progressive condition and when left untreated, can lead to additional health issues.

This non-invasive evaluative test uses sound waves to create pictures of the anatomy, and the flow of blood through the arteries and veins. A duplex ultrasound doesn’t require the use of dyes or radiation, and is even safe during pregnancy. After viewing the images from this test, a diagnosis can be made and the varicose vein specialist can provide guidance for a varicose vein treatment or spider vein treatment plan.

The procedures are virtually painless with little to no recovery time needed, and are covered by most major health insurance carriers when medically necessary.

Both of these offer safe, effective, FDA-approved, non-surgical treatment options. In about 10 ten minutes, with the help of ultrasound-guided laser technology, endovenous laser ablation can produce immediate results, while sclerotherapy for varicose veins uses an FDA-approved sclerosant, to eliminate varicose veins with pinpoint accuracy.
